We specialise in the design and manufacture of ground-breaking renewable-energy technology products.

The Café Operator will be responsible for the end-to-end operation of our on-site café, serving employees and visitors with fresh, nutritious, and appealing food and beverages. This role requires a self-motivated individual with strong culinary, organizational, and customer service skills.

Initial contract duration for this role is 3 months, after which point the contract will be reviewed. This is a part time role, working hours are: Monday to Friday 8:30 to 13:30.

Responsibilities:

Menu Planning & Meal Preparation
• Design weekly menus that cater to diverse dietary needs and preferences
• Continual improvement of menus based on feedback and purchase data to improve offerings and sales
• Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, snacks, and beverages
• Ensure portion control and consistency in food quality and presentation

Health, Hygiene & Safety
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene in accordance with UK Food Standards Agency regulations
• Conduct daily cleaning of kitchen, equipment, and dining areas
• Monitor fridge/freezer temperatures and ensure proper food storage
• Complete regular risk assessments and hygiene audits

Purchasing & Supplier Engagement
• Source ingredients and supplies from approved vendors
• Build and maintain relationships with local suppliers for fresh produce and specialty items
• Negotiate pricing and delivery schedules to ensure cost-effective procurement

Stock Management
• Track inventory levels and perform weekly stock takes
• Minimize waste through efficient stock rotation and menu planning
• Order supplies proactively to avoid shortages

Allergen Management & Food Labelling
• Record and update allergen information for all menu items
• Clearly label food with ingredients and allergen warnings
• Communicate allergen risks to customers and accommodate dietary restrictions

Qualifications & Experience:

• Level 3 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate
• Experience in catering, hospitality, or café management
• Strong cooking and food preparation skills
• Knowledge of allergen regulations and food labelling standards
• Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
• Basic budgeting and purchasing skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
