Quality Diagnostic Engineer
The Quality Diagnostic Engineer will support the quality and continual improvement of products and processes to reduce field failures. You will collect data and investigate returned product in context of data available (e.g. Zendesk data, production data etc.) to determine causes and contributing factors. You will build reports to highlight common failure modes and identify weaknesses in the product and drive improvement in designs, production processes, technical data and technical support of the products whilst identifying and reporting on any deviations or issues identified in returned product.
Responsibilities
- Triage & inspect returned product as required through a variety of methods including:
· Visual inspection
· Electrical test
· Function test
- Reporting finds of faults, installation issues, user error/issues, miss reporting of issues
- Checking ticket information in regard to missed/omitted information
- Logging issues / faults on triage form
- Investigating issues relating to production faults, installation issues and defective components
- Monitoring issues & logs to keep track of high priority, trending risks.
- Fault finding and breakdown of failed units that may pose future problems.
- Analysing trends in findings to predict future faults.
- Investigating problems with in both products and procedures that may be improved to make products more reliable, easier to build and cheaper to maintain
- Inspecting Wholesaler returns
Qualifications & Experience
- Understanding of electrical and electronic products (construction, design, application etc.)
- Understanding of schematics and technical drawings and data
- Knowledge of component types and their characteristics
- Experience in diagnosis and rework of electronic and electrical equipment
- Electrical test experience (safe working at mains voltage)
- Use of basic test equipment (Digital multi-meters, Oscilloscopes etc)
- Ability to work with tools such as soldering and de-soldering equipment
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word etc.)
- Good communication and report writing skills
- Knowledge of electronic manufacturing processes
