Engineering Technician
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Engineering Technician to play a critical role in supporting the design engineering team in the development of new products and improvements to existing designs.
You will be working alongside a dedicated team of electrical, mechanical and firmware engineers, in a creative and innovative environment, to identify potential issues and propose and test solutions on a mixture of single and three systems, power circuits, Comms, IO devices, sensors, etc.
Using PCB schematics and CAD software and test tools to evaluate designs to ensure compliance to the applicable standard and enhance the product reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with design engineers, compliance and cross-functional teams to support design projects and meet project objectives.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand project requirements, priorities, and timelines.
• Participate in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and project meetings to contribute ideas, provide technical input, and address technical challenges.
• Perform quality checks and verification activities to ensure that designs meet specified requirements and comply with relevant standards and regulations.
• Compliance testing, including EMC and reliability testing
• Support the implementation of fault finding, including RCA, corrective actions and improvements to enhance product quality and reliability.
• Report writing.
Qualifications and Experience:
- BSc or other degree in an electronic discipline, or demonstrable experience in this area.
• Hold extensive knowledge and experience of electrical products of an analogue and digital nature.
• Strong problem solving, fault finding and diagnostic skills, including use of oscilloscopes
• Appreciation for different types of PCB components and testing methods.
• Experience of Labview or other NI software platforms.
• Previous experience in compliance and EMC testing (advantageous)
• Understanding of coding, specifically embedded C (advantageous)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Able to manage and prioritise workloads.
• Strong team player and able to work well on own initiative.
• Mentoring experience advantageous.
